It has become a mandatory process to link your PAN with Aadhaar. This is an important process because this will allow your income tax returns to be processed. Linking of your PAN with Aadhaar is also required if you are carrying out banking transactions for amount of Rs.50,000 and above.

The process to get your PAN linked with Aadhaar is very simple. We will have a look at some of the steps you can follow to link your PAN with Aadhaar.

How to Check PAN-Aadhar Link Status?
The following are the steps to check the status of PAN-Aadhar link:

Visit the official of e-filling portal of Income Tax.
On the homepage, click on the ‘Link Aadhaar Status’
Enter the PAN and Aadhar number
Click on ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’
If the PAN and Aadhar are not linked, then a message will pop up informing that PAN and Aadhar are not linked.

Who needs to link PAN with Aadhaar?

As per a circular issued by CBDT in March 2022, the Income-tax Act makes it mandatory for every person who has been allotted a PAN as on July 1, 2017, to intimate his/her Aadhaar number so that Aadhaar and PAN can be linked. This is required to be done on or before March 31, 2023, failing which the PAN shall become inoperative.
